TEA AND FASHION WITH KAREN WALKER

TEA AND FASHION WITH KAREN WALKER

Playpark is an exciting extension of Karen Walker Newmarket – a literary salon with a curated selection of Karen’s favourite books, along with our delicious organic teas, and summery cakes by The Caker’s Jordan Rondel. Karen describes Playpark as “the ultimate bibliophiles’ tea-and-cake fashion experience.”

This was a lovely opportunity to do what we love most – creating bespoke tea blends. We worked closely with Karen to design a personalised tea for Playpark. Runaway is a botanical take on traditional Earl Grey that’s simply exquisite. This limited edition tea is romantic and fragrant, a spirited blend of black tea, citrus and delicate rose petals. It awakens the senses with the perfect balance of zesty orange rind, refined bergamot oil and rose.

Runaway is delicious at any time of day! We drink it Classic – black, sweetened with a dollop of artisan honey, and iced – brewed straight and served over ice. I also love it as a Runaway Latte – infused straight and added to gently steamed plant-based milk such as coconut or almond.

We’ve packaged Runaway in a customised limited edition tea tin for summer. It’s unique and oh-so-pretty in blush. It’s just perfect as a gift and will look gorgeous on display at home or the office.

The black tea we use in Runaway comes from certified organic tea gardens in Darjeeling, India. The Ambootia Tea Estate in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains is one of the most famous tea estates in Darjeeling. The orange peels used in the blend come from certified organic orange groves, also in the Ambootia Tea Estate. The orange peels are sun-dried to give them their distinct aroma and flavour.

Make sure you join us every Saturday during Playpark. We’ll be there in Newmarket to serve our delicious Runaway Tea. You can enjoy it as hot, as an on-trend latte or a refreshing iced tea. We’re even using it as a base to a beautiful bespoke cocktail – perfect for picnics and parties this summer!
